Blooming Now

Iris In April, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

I was surprised to see this morning that some of the Iris have started to bloom. They continue
spreading each year so it may be time to thin them. I love the shapes of the petals.
We still have not gotten the storms that have been hanging around us. Maybe there's time to get in a walk before the rain comes.

Full Of Flowers

Wild Wisteria, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, © Fay Terry

SOLD

Most of the Wisteria that grows wild is fading away so there are not too many more opportunities to paint it except...  We have a new Wisteria vine that we ordered last year from a nursery in South Carolina. It is a hybrid plant just coming into bloom and looks as if it's going to be really pretty on our Pergola. Perhaps there will be some more paintings of these beautiful flowers this spring.

Blooms on Blue

Dogwood Flowers, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, © Fay Terry

Here are some more Dogwood flowers from one of the trees in our front yard. This one is not for sale at this time.

Togetherness

Dogwood Doubles, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100 includes free shipping
The Dogwoods have been exceptionally gorgeous this spring and I can never resist trying different styles to paint them. The petals are falling now and when the wind picks up it looks like a snowstorm. The ground is covered with piles of soft white pieces.

I am hearing lots of thunder as I post this and one of  my dogs is cowering on the basement stairs.  We are supposed to get some severe weather this afternoon which may include large hail. Camden is very frightened of thunder and lightning, Pixie does not seem bothered by it. I want to get a calming vest, which I have heard really helps during storms and other times of anxiety.

Fresh

Caitlin's Roses, 9 x 12" oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

NFS

My daughter and I are very fortunate that my husband loves giving us flowers. These are birthday flowers given to my daughter yesterday and  I decided to act quickly to paint them while they are very fresh and lovely. The roses started out as white with bright pink edges and now they are becoming pale pink at the bottom and still very deep pink closer to the top of the flower.
Have a great week end and thanks for viewing my art.

Camellia In Pink

Afternoon Sun, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

SOLD

This Camellia is blooming right below our bedroom window so I spotted it while the sun was on it.  The flowers are large and dramatic, but their glamour is short-lived.  This shrub has variegated flowers, showing up in many interesting variations.

Same Flowers, Different Place

Porch Tulips, 6 x 6 " oil on gessobord panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100 plus shipping

It's finally warm enough to enjoy the screened porch so I've been enjoying these tulips on the table where I now eat breakfast and lunch.
I painted this one very quickly, which is how I like to paint daily paintings. Sometimes it works, but sometimes a small painting can take far longer than I imagined.
My large paintings may be viewed on my website, but I need to get busy and update my inventory and work on my site to reflect what I have recently been working on in the bigger sizes.
Thanks for viewing my art!

Flowers

Easter Tulips. 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100 plus shipping

It was a wonderful week-end at the beach with the exception of the unrelenting rain and cool temps. We had lots of fun anyway, spending time with our kids.
I was scheduled to work in the gallery Saturday afternoon and we had tons of people come in.
It's nice to be home again with the promise of warm weather most of the week.
Thanks for viewing my art.

Early Riser

Sunrise Bunny, 4 x 4 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

This bunny is up bright and early to wish you a Happy Easter! There may be lots of colorful eggs to find today, and some wonderful family get-togethers. Have a beautiful day whatever you are doing today!

Big Bunny

Daddy Bunny, 4 x 4 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

This one is a chubby bunny and is watching out for all the baby bunnies. I love the blue against the orangey tone of the fur.

Tiny painting

Little Blonde, 4 x 4 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

Here's another funny bunny for your enjoyment. These little Minnies, as I have decided to call them, on four inch squares are unbelievably cute.

Bunny Time

Brown & White, 4 x 4 " oil on gessobord panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

Available Framed at ONE ELEVEN MAIN

This is the first really small panel I have painted on. The difference between a six inch square and a four inch is amazing. It was fun, though, and I will probably try some more of these mini panels.

Blue Flowers

Wisteria Time, 6 x 6 " oil on panel

This parasitic vine that covers  trees and climbs buildings is so beautiful right now. It is exotic, romantic, and very dramatic. Wisteria has long inspired artists with its graceful twisting branches and profuse flowers.
There are several spots near my house to paint Wisteria, but it is so windy and cold today that I decided not to paint plein air. I hope to paint a couple of scenes full of Wisteria before it stops blooming. It never lasts very long.

vegetable duo

Artichokes With Lemon, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100 and free shipping

I did a quick drawing and then painted these from life so that they can now become part of our dinner tonight. I found a recipe in the latest Cook's Illustrated for roasted artichokes with lemon vinaigrette.
I can't wait to try it. The author claims it is the best way to cook them because cooking them in boiling water washes away much of the flavor. I'll let you know how they turn out.

On Green Swamp Road

Farm Scene, Bladen County, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

All these shapes and colors really caught my eye and it was an interesting subject to paint.
Hope you've had a great week-end and thanks for looking at my art.

Lavender And Yellow

Summer Flowers. oil on canvas, ©2014, Fay Terry

This is a painting from  a while back that I thought I would post now that the leaves on all my Hydrangea bushes are filling out. I look forward to seeing them in full bloom in the next couple of months. The yellow flowers are Marigolds and we nearly always plant them because they stand up to  the summer heat.
Happy Saturday!

Ooh La La

French Cup With Lemon, 6 x6 " oil on gessobord panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

I love this little cup I bought in Paris last summer and have been wanting to paint it for a long time. It sings a spring song to me, so I set up a still life in my studio this morning and it was really fun to paint.
Let me know if you are interested in this little charmer.
Thanks for looking at my art!

Duck

Buy Me Some marshmallow Peeps! 6 x 6 " oil on panel,©2014, Fay Terry

Available framed at ONE ELEVEN MAIN

I had fun painting the duck in the grass since I wanted to do a very close up painting.
This concludes my series of ducks for a while and tomorrow I will be moving on to another subject which may or may not become a series. I really enjoyed this group of paintings and I thank you for looking at my blog.

Beside The Water

Staying Dry, 5 x 7 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

This beautiful duck was enjoying the nice weather and watching the other ducks as they swam away.
I love all the colors in these feathers, especially the bright turquoise one.
Thanks for looking at my art!

Long Bill

Lucky Ducky, 5 x 7 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100, free shipping

It is fun to watch ducks move when they are casting a shadow. This duck seemed to be chasing his shadow in the bright sunlight.
We spent the day yesterday at the N.C. Zoo in Asheboro and had fun along with over 5,000 other visitors. It was still easy to maneuver and didn't seem that crowded so I was surprised to hear on the news that there were that many people there.

Show In Raleigh and new ducks

Spring Trio, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100, free shipping

My paintings are showing tonight in "Eggistentialism" at the Tipping Paint Gallery on West Martin St., from 6-9 pm. There will be some fun activities relating to eggs and chickens and paintings from sixteen area artists with proceeds going to Urban Ministries of Raleigh. The show will hang through April 26 and is a prelude to the Tour D'Coop event which takes place May 21st. Hope to see you there!

When I was a kindergarten teacher, we hatched duck eggs every spring and used the project for lessons in Math, Science, Art, and Language Arts. After they hatched we gave them back to the NCSU Poultry Department Field Laboratory on Lake Wheeler Road in Raleigh. It was always fun to drive out and get the eggs and start them in our classroom incubator. I always learned from it and so did my kids.
I still miss teaching, but then I think about how lucky I am to be an artist.

Dark Feathers

Heading Home, 6 x 6 " oil on panel,©2014, Fay Terry

$100, free shipping

This is not a very colorful duck except for the nose and feet. We see ducks like these when we walk around the reservoir, but they don't have these bluish grey bills. I am not sure where I took the photo but I know it was somewhere in California.

Out For A Walk

Donald, 6 x 6 " oil on panel,©2014, Fay Terry

$100 plus shipping

This little duck and several of his buddies were walking through the parking lot of Broadway At The Beach in Myrtle Beach last week-end. My daughter was able to get a really great photo of this one and I couldn't wait to paint him.
It's not often you get to see one of these out of the water so that you can appreciate those beautiful orange web feet!

All Together

Spring Chickens

Happy first day of April!  Watch out for those April Fool's Day tricks today.  I am posting my latest collage of the series I have just completed. I hope you enjoy it and I'll have something new for you tomorrow.
