Same Flowers, Different Place

Porch Tulips, 6 x 6 " oil on gessobord panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100 plus shipping

It's finally warm enough to enjoy the screened porch so I've been enjoying these tulips on the table where I now eat breakfast and lunch.
I painted this one very quickly, which is how I like to paint daily paintings. Sometimes it works, but sometimes a small painting can take far longer than I imagined.
My large paintings may be viewed on my website, but I need to get busy and update my inventory and work on my site to reflect what I have recently been working on in the bigger sizes.
Thanks for viewing my art!

Flowers

Easter Tulips. 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100 plus shipping

It was a wonderful week-end at the beach with the exception of the unrelenting rain and cool temps. We had lots of fun anyway, spending time with our kids.
I was scheduled to work in the gallery Saturday afternoon and we had tons of people come in.
It's nice to be home again with the promise of warm weather most of the week.
Thanks for viewing my art.

Spring Flowers

Tulips and Beach Finds, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100, free shipping

We had lots of fun last night at the Art Show at Top Of The Hill on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill.
There were many wonderful pieces of art which included paintings, pottery, and jewelry.
Numerous local artists donated their work including Vidabeth Benson, Carmen Elliott, Jane Filer, Kim Werfel, and  Andria Linn.
My four paintings all sold which made me happy.

Deep Color

Patti's Tulips, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100

These tulips were painted from a photo that Patti Mollica let us use in her workshop. She takes wonderful photos and generously shared them with her students.
I love the colors in this painting and the small glass jar was fun to paint, but I could paint these tulips many times and not tire of them.
Have a wonderful week-end and thanks for viewing my art.

Blue Ribbon Flowers

Remembering, 6 x 6" oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

Sold

These are my Valentine's Day Tulips still going strong, which is amazing. I did put a ribbon around them to keep them from falling over and then I thought I would put a bow on the one at the top. This is my favorite tulip painting that I have done so far and there will be more on the way soon. I love painting tulips! There is something special about spring flowers that makes me feel excited about all the beautiful days ahead.
I hope you are having an excited about spring day, too!

Tulips Today

Lamp Study With Tulips, 6 x 6 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100. includes shipping
My objective in this painting was to contrast the warm light on the tulips close to the lamp with the shadowy darks of the other flowers.  I may do a large version of this soon and include a little more of the painting on the wall.
I am working on several large paintings and still enjoying keeping up my daily painting schedule by posting the small ones.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Wide Open Tulips, 5 x 7 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100. includes shipping

I did manage to get one more painting of these tulips before they were over the hill.  This is my favorite one of the four that I painted. All five blooms are fully open and only one of them has fallen over and is leaning forward.  They remain in my studio and will soon be replaced by my beautiful Valentine roses that I received from my husband.

I hope you have a sweet and loving day today.

Tulips In Delft

Tulips In Delft
It's fun to have these tulips sitting under the skylight in my studio and reacting to every change in the weather  outside.  The day they arrived was stormy and pouring down rain and they were closed up tight. I may paint them again tomorrow because they look different after today's sunshine.

Gift From A Friend

Gift From A Friend

This painting is by my good friend Sara and I received it today in the mail. It is an oil painting, done entirely with a painting knife.  I decided that I would like to try painting and Sara was my first teacher when I began with water color.  She recently switched form watercolor to oils and paints every day.  I don't get to see her anymore because she has gone to live near one of her daughters in Wisconsin. Sara is almost 89 years old now. You can imagine how thrilled I was to receive this.  It is a scene from a very famous tulip garden,  taken a few years ago when Sara and I traveled with a group to the Netherlands. We met the woman in the painting at Keukenhof Gardens, where she works with the tulips every day.
I hope that I am still painting when I am eighty-nine!

Flowers In The Lobby

Flowers In The Lobby
I have always loved the flowers in this Maine hotel  because they are grown in the gardens on the hotel grounds.  There are lots of beautiful old vases such as this blue hobnail one and the floral arrangements are informal and pretty.  I used to go there with my grandmother every summer when I was younger and the guests gathered in the large comfortable lobby after dinner to socialize and play card games. It's different now and still wonderful, so it's nice to have lots of memories there from my childhood.

Tulip Interiors

Tulip Interiors  SOLD
Yesterday my son Hampton, and his wife Kim, brought me a pot of tulips in
bud.  By today they were wide open, and I could not believe they went from
bud to such fullness in one day.  Now I realize it was warm in the kitchen causing them
to show their glorious interior colors.  I find it amazing that now as the sun goes down
and it has cooled off, they have closed back up.
What fun to watch!
