Plated Mango

Plated Mango
This one is a little riper than yesterday's mango.
It deserves a plate and I started to include a knife but thought that
might be a rushing things a little.

Mango-Mania

Mango-Mania
I have found the best fruit to paint is also one of my favorite to
eat.  The market on Beverly Lane has mangoes on sale and they
are beautiful combinations of red, green, and yellow.
But the best is yet to come...

Baby Lettuce

Baby Lettuce
6x6 in. oil on
museum quality panel

This lettuce was started in the house
in little peat pots.  It is ready for
the garden and has now been planted between
two sections of beets.  I love the name of
the lettuce-it is called "Black-Seeded Simpson"
and it's the kind my dad always grew in our garden.

SOLD

Honestly, the thing I am enjoying most about doing these

small paintings is painting things I have never painted before.
I have a long mental list of items that I want to try.  Yes, I have
painted flowers before, but not Camellias.  Many people cut off the stems
and float them in a pretty bowl.  Maybe I'll try that next!

Carolina Camellia

Sold  Carolina Camellia

It's been a warm and sunny day here,
the temperature now is 82 degrees.
I couldn't resist plucking a cheery,
deep pink flower from the yard.

Make a Difference

Next week's Daily Paintworks challenge will be a fundraiser for the survivors of the Japanese earthquake.

It's called "Help Japan" and more information is available on the Daily Paintworks website.

I will be participating, both as a contributor and as a buyer.

If you have the means, I encourage you to consider one or the other. Or both.

Thanks so much.

Love Bug

The Love Bug

This is great to have around--what else could
spread such happiness?  It makes you laugh, it's cheerful, waits
patiently, never gets angry, and never shows you
anything but a smile!

Forsythia In Delft

Forsythia In Delft

One day they are bare branches
and the next day you see them loaded with
cheery yellow flowers.  This happens in late
February in North Carolina and it
never fails to catch me by surprise.

Sainte Crepin, France

Saint Crepin

We had a nice picnic in this village
last September and a very nice man from the
neighborhood brought us several bottles of wine
to have with our lunch.  He liked the fact
that we were painting there.

Knick-Knack, Paddy Whack

Knick-Knack, Paddy Whack

It seems Bentley the cat has been
spending a lot of time with me in my studio.
The dogs are both very jealous so I
came up with this little bowl full of treats to
appease them.

Spool Buddies

Spool Buddies
I have a strong connection with thread.
It reminds me of all the sewing I used to do.
I'd pick up a Vogue pattern, some great fabric, and
I made everything I wore.  I even made some
clothes for my little ones.
My sewing machine retired a long time ago!

The Last Of The Almonds

The Last Of The Almonds

6 x 6 in. oil

I love to eat almonds-they get me through
the day and keep me from getting too
hungry while I am working.  Now I
need to re-stock because these
were eaten after the painting was finished.
