Leaf Shadows

Between The Rains, 8 x 8 " oil on Raymar panel, ©2015, Fay Terry

$150, free shipping

The rain continues with very brief intervals of sunshine. It was during one sunny interval that I was able to paint this before the clouds returned.  We still have a bit of blue sky without the bright sun and shadows.
My "Endless Summer" Hydrangeas have not bloomed once all summer because I pruned them too much and too late.  Last evening I was on the porch and saw an amazing sight--lots of blooms on six plants. It's going to be nice to have October blue Hydrangeas!

30 Paintings In 30 Days-Day 16

Tall And Lean, 6 x 6 " oil on gessobord panel, ©2015, Fay Terry

$100 free shipping

These are new pears that I haven't tasted yet; they are Comice pears. I was drawn to their interesting shapes and the long stems. Their coloring is also different from most pears, they are mostly golden with only a few hints of green. I can't wait to see how they taste when they soften up a bit.

Zoo

Winking At The Birds, 18 x 36" oil on canvas ©2014, Fay Terry

This is what I have been working on today. I think it may be finished so I am going to keep it in my studio for the next few days to see if there is any tweaking I want to do. I am very happy with this painting which was done from a photo that I took at the North Carolina Zoo a few weeks ago. Several giraffes were within close range for photographing so I took some good pictures.

Blooming Now

Iris In April, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

I was surprised to see this morning that some of the Iris have started to bloom. They continue
spreading each year so it may be time to thin them. I love the shapes of the petals.
We still have not gotten the storms that have been hanging around us. Maybe there's time to get in a walk before the rain comes.

Tall Feathers

City Rooster, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

It has been a while since I painted chickens and these are going to be very colorful ones.
They have always been popular, perhaps because they are one of my favorite subjects.
I have taken so many chicken photos, including some in a Buddhist Monastery in Bhutan. I never miss an opportunity to get a picture of one.
This one is going to Raleigh next week to Tipping Paint Gallery.
Thank you for viewing my paintings. I love your comments.

Big Red

Natural Beauty, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100

This gorgeous Amaryllis is on my kitchen table and I love the way the light from the window is coming through the petals. It has a stalk that is about three feet high so it has to be tied up to stand straight.
There are four flowers blooming now and one bud on the right that hasn't opened yet. This one took forever to bloom but we had fun watching it grow since late November.

Traditional Bloom

Amaryllis , 6 x 6 " oil on panel,©2013, Fay Terry

$75. free shipping

This is my favorite Christmas flower and I always have several blooming in December in pots.
They get pretty tall and sometimes start falling over and have to be tied up. This one is very velvety and beautiful and we are enjoying it.
I have some paper-whites blooming right now too, but they have a very strong and unpleasant scent. These are the first ones I have had that don't smell really good, they must be a different variety than what I've had in the past. Does anyone know the name of a good paper-white narcissus bulb to plant that smells sweet?

Reach For The Sky

Jaune Tournesol, 8 x 10 oil on canvas panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$150

There are two large sunflowers blooming now and I couldn't wait to paint them. I painted this yesterday and decided to change the background color this morning. I am very pleased with it now.
I no longer take blue skies for granted after this rainy and cloudy summer so it sure is nice to see some Carolina blue up there.

I did not miss a day of painting and posting in 2013 until July, just before my travels began. Soon I will be going to Maine and Canada to do some painting so will post as often as I am able. Looking forward to Lobster!

Sunny Color

Gladiolas, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100, free shipping

These seem to be blooming everywhere right now, a flower that I never liked but am beginning to be a little fond of.
They are much more attractive in an arrangement than when they are growing outside. Their height is awkward and they seem to lean in every direction. I did have fun painting them and may buy some more in a different color.

Another Kind Of Tulip

Tulip Poplar Bloom, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

The tulip trees are in full bloom with flowers far too high to reach. The blooms are so full of nectar that the birds and squirrels knock them to the ground trying to get to them. I have picked up several of these pretty "tulips" on my morning walk on the trail around the reservoir.

Thanks for looking and let me know if you are interested in purchasing this painting.
