Golden Beauty

Sun Worshipper, 6 x 6 " oil on archival panel, ©2015, Fay Terry

$85 special sale, free shipping

There was no sun today, only heavy rain, so I decided a bright sunshiny painting was in order.
This is one of the few daffodils that bloomed; I think the squirrels have eaten all the old bulbs and it's time to plant new ones next fall. Everything in the landscape seems to be in bloom right now and the Dogwood trees, both the white and the pink,  are magnificent.

Summer Sunshine

Golden Girl, 4 x 4 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$75 framed in floater frame

This is the final painting in my rose series. I have always loved yellow roses more than any other color.
Roses do not grow well in the Sandhills where I live so I have to find them elsewhere. We can grow "Knock-out " roses but they are not great for cutting and bringing indoors.

I'm working now on beach scenes and people I've spotted having fun in the sand and surf. I can't wait to show you some of these when they are finished. Oh, and I also will be showing you our resident bunny who can be seen in our yard, loves to eat our eggplant straight from the garden, and teases the dogs by hopping by them at top speed.

As Promised

Rose Jaune, 4 x 4 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

This week in my studio is flying by. I've been doing tiny roses and huge paintings, too. Right now it's beach themes that I am painting and I never run out of ideas for coastal scenes.
Soon  I will be painting on an island along with my good friend Teej, who'll be writing articles.  She has been published in all the major Civil War magazines on numerous occasions and is an amazing Civil War researcher and writer.

We decided leave our husbands here and go to the beach during the U.S. Open men's tournament which will be followed by the women's tournament on the same course, Pinehurst Number 2. Our town looks more beautiful than ever with all the preparation that has been done, but it is going to be very crowded for those two weeks.

Brilliant

Rose Pose, 4 x 4 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

I am framing these tiny rose paintings and they will soon be available at One Eleven Main in Aberdeen.
They always surprise me when they are finished. The shadows are the most fun.
It has been a beautiful day today and we are finding it relaxing to stay at home for the holiday week-end.

Two Tone Rose

 Love Messenger, 4 x 4 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

This is one of my favorites, perfect for someone who loves pink roses and also loves yellow ones. I don't know what variety this one is, so I named it in the title.

Camellia In Pink

Afternoon Sun, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

SOLD

This Camellia is blooming right below our bedroom window so I spotted it while the sun was on it.  The flowers are large and dramatic, but their glamour is short-lived.  This shrub has variegated flowers, showing up in many interesting variations.

Sparkling Air

Spring's Arrival 6,  6 x 6 " oil on gessobord panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100, free shipping

This is a second version of the first Forsythia painting that I did. I wanted to do another one so that all of this series would be painted in the same style. Now they all look as if they belong together. That means I still have one more to do since I planned on a group of six.
I certainly do love working this way in a series.
Happy Week-end!

Smell The Roses

Rose Petal Dreams, 6 x 6 " oil on canvas, © Fay Terry

What a fast week this has been! I can't believe tomorrow is Friday already. My color preferences change often when it comes to roses, and right now it is pink that I love. Most of all I would like to smell some sweet old fashioned roses that actually have a beautiful scent.
When I used to paint watercolors, I loved the smell of rose madder  genuine pigment because it really smells like roses.

All About Pink

Daisy, Daisy 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100, free shipping

I love these flowers for their intense color and for their sturdiness. It's hard to believe they are blooming already because we have had so many cool, cloudy days. I guess there have been enough warm days to keep them happy. You'll see more of these.

Big Bloomer

Rose Garden Favorite, 6 x 6 " oil on archival panel, © 2013, Fay Terry
$100. includes shipping
I admire gardens that have beautiful roses but here in the Sandhills it is not easy to grow them.  Most of us have planted "Knock-Out" roses which are productive, low maintenance, and tolerate the hot, dry, sandy soil of this area. The rose above is not one of these, but is a variety grown in the Raleigh Rose Garden where it was photographed.

Jenn's Hibiscus

Jenn's Hibiscus

This is from a beautiful yard in Charlotte and I painted from a photo.  It was really fun to observe all the variations in color on the delicate petals of this flower.  Since each flower only lasts for a day, it is intriguing to see how many blooms there are each morning, some days many, and some days just a few.  Happy Summer! Let's take time to enjoy it with all it's many wonders.
