Poppies from Sweden

Poppies, 8 x 10" oil on panel

SOLD

Another example of the flowers growing on the Swedish island of Olund. It was so much fun to paint these flowers.

Thanks, as always, for viewing!

Flower from Olund

Adam and Eve Orchid, 6 x 6 " oil on panel
$100 includes shipping

This is a flower that grows in Sweden, near the Baltic sea. It was photographed on the island of Olund, one of the most beautiful places I have seen.  The light on it made it seem to have many vibrant hues, although it was one color.

Daisies

Purple Centers, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100 includes shipping

These daisies are growing really well where I planted them just after Patti Mollica's workshop last month. They were in a very small pot and were getting restless wanting more space. They seem to love this sunny spot in the yard and I watch them get a little bigger every day.

Farm Fresh On The Table

Crookneck Squash, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100 includes shipping
This is one of my favorite summer vegetables and I bought this at a produce stand just after it had been picked. These are the  nice small ones which have the best flavor and fewer seeds.
I have a new tablecloth which I ordered from Carol Maguire Home. Carol is a wonderful artist and also has a line of table linens and other things based on some of her oil paintings. Click here to see this site. You may also enjoy her painting website by clicking here.

Quick Study

There was not much time for painting today, but I am happy that I managed to pick up my brushes long enough to get a study done for a larger painting. I have been wanting to paint Lilacs, which don't grow well here so I have some wonderful photos someone let me use. This gave me the chance to at least get a feel for the subject and this will make it easier when I do a larger one.
I hope your holiday has been wonderful, ours was lots of fun.

What A View

Ant In Paradise, 8 x 8 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$150, shipping included

I was taking pictures of the Hibiscus tree out on the deck and later realized I had gotten a great photo of this ant. I thought about Carol Marine's recent painting of a gorgeous rose with a bug on it and decided  to  give this a try.
I am really pleased with how it turned out.

Coming Out

Just A Whisper, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

This painting will be auctioned on Daily Paintworks in the Oklahoma tornado fundraiser.
I will add the bidding information here as soon as I list it in the auction.
This painting really made me think about the joy I get from my yard and gardens. Not only are these folks in Oklahoma bereft of their homes, but they have lost the ability to step out into their yard and enjoy spring and summer pleasures like grilling out and playing outside.

There are many wonderful paintings in the fundraiser auction, so please take a look and consider bidding on something you like.

Thursday Flower

Big White Flower, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100 includes shipping

This is the painting I did yesterday and posted in the afternoon.  Somehow, it didn't publish so I am sending it out again today. (I was pretty tired yesterday so I might have done something wrong.)
I hope you enjoy it!

Yellow

Quick Study, Hibiscus 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

I am in love with these flowers right now and having fun with various colors. It is sunny and beautiful outdoors so I'm headed to the garden to do some planting.
Let me know if you are interested in this one or any others on my blog.
Thanks for viewing my art!

Blooming Now

Tropical Treat, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100 includes shipping

This is blooming outside my kitchen windows and is the same type of Hibiscus that is the state flower of Hawaii.  These are tropical plants and do best in tropical conditions.  They do not tolerate frost well but they are so gorgeous even people in Canada and Eastern Europe grow them and bring them inside for the winter.
I love how regal the flowers are, always standing so straight and tall above the leaves.

Beach Time

Swimsuit Doll, 8 x 10 " oil on wrapped canvas, ©2013, Fay Terry

I have always loved dolls and found this stuffed cloth doll with long arms and legs to be much to my liking, especially as a painting model. She is very tall and floppy with such a cute face.
Contact Fay if you are interested in this painting which would be perfect in a little girl's room.

At Home With Hydrangeas

Carolina Anole In Hydrangea Bush, 6 x 6 oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100 includes shipping

Every morning I look at the Hydrangeas beside the porch to see how much the pale green flower buds have grown. It seems someone else is watching, too. This little lizard is always found on one of the leaves and was snapped by iphone camera yesterday afternoon. (Thanks, Bill!)
I can hardly wait for the first flowers to open so I can start bringing them into the house.  This little guy better not be a stowaway when I fill a big vase with them in a few weeks. It did happen last year and I had a hard time catching the little lizard to return him to the outdoors.

Resident Crab

Oak Island Beach Owner, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100 includes shipping

My husband took a photo of this crab in the sand a couple of weeks ago and I have really
been wanting to paint this. It was fun and makes me want to paint more beach creatures.

French Village

Coming Into Town, 24 x 20 " oil on canvas

Available

This is one of my favorite views and is painted from a photo taken in France as we were arriving in a beautiful and bustling town on Market Day.
This painting will soon join some of my other paintings in Lula's Cafe on Broad Street in Southern Pines. Stop in for a wonderful lunch and enjoy the art!

Pink Rose

Special Rose, 8 x 8  " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$150 includes shipping

This is painted from  a photo that Patti Mollica generously shared with us at her workshop last month. I painted fast and was surprised at how quickly the painting was finished. It would have been fun if I had timed myself, but I didn't have my watch or phone and I don't have a clock in my studio.
Today was a day that I totally lost track of time and it was wonderful because I had nothing on my schedule, not even cooking dinner.

Workday

Mobile Office, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

SOLD

Perhaps you know someone like this who is constantly working and never seems to find time to just have fun without multi tasking. Sometimes you have to do a little work while you are at the beach, but hopefully not while you are ON the beach.

Mushrooms

Mushroom Trio, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100 includes shipping

There are so many vegetables that are fun to paint and mushrooms fall into that category because each one is unique in size, shape, and color.

This has been a great family week-end and I enjoyed spending time with my children. I love being a mom and having so many great memories of their growing up years.
Happy Mother's Day!

On My Easel

I am still working on this one and have a few values I want to change.
This is a scene from Bald Head Island where I hope to be going soon to paint.

Wisteria Vine

Wisteria, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100 includes shipping

I never tire of painting this beautiful vine. I love all that is blooming right now and the sun is shining. Yay!

Cool Melon

Favorite Melon, 6 x 6 " oil on panel

$100, free shipping

Cantaloupe is not yet in season locally and that is when they taste best, but it won't be long.
Many old timers call them muskmelons and they are actually correct. No cantaloupes are grown commercially in the U.S., only muskmelons. Cantaloupes are a rough warty fruit while muskmelons have the characteristic netting on the fruit rind. I love them by either name and could not resist giving this painting  another bright color along with the orange fruit.

Rainy Day Flowers

Iris Shadows, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100, free shipping

It's always fun to paint the shadows on the wall when sun is hitting the flowers or, in this case, light from a nearby lamp. It got pretty dark a little while ago as a thunderstorm passed through but now the sun is slowly peeking out again.
Contact me if you are interested in purchasing this.

Another Kind Of Tulip

Tulip Poplar Bloom, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

The tulip trees are in full bloom with flowers far too high to reach. The blooms are so full of nectar that the birds and squirrels knock them to the ground trying to get to them. I have picked up several of these pretty "tulips" on my morning walk on the trail around the reservoir.

Thanks for looking and let me know if you are interested in purchasing this painting.

Spring Bovine

Cowlick, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100 and free shipping

This cow is such a beautiful caramel color and I love the little swirl at the top of her head.
This is a painting that I would love to do in a larger format, perhaps 24 x @24 inches. I would love to hear your opinion on the green background. If I paint a larger one I might want a different color. Other suggestions, maybe?

Thanks for commenting and emailing me about these little dailies. It really keeps me highly motivated, especially when you tell me you can't go to sleep until you've seen my painting, and other nice things like that!
I have been  working on some larger paintings as well (some 24x30's, and 16x20's).

Daisies

Pink Presents, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

SOLD

I have been enjoying these Gerbera Daisies in one of my favorite blue vases. I love having all these the same color but it will be fun to mix up the colors when more of them start blooming.

I hope you are having a great week-end!
Thanks for  looking.

Orange Bites

Standing In The Shadows, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100

I couldn't wait to try this little bowl again after I did it a couple of days ago. This time I made the darks a little less intense and played up the red of the bowl. It is sunny outside today and the colors in this little set up in my studio appear very different today.

Dutch Rabbit

Bunn One, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$75

Today is day two of the Leslie Saeta free 30 day marketing challenge for artists. Here is a link to join the more than 300 artists participating. Each day in May, Leslie will post a short thirty minute or so task for us to do. It makes it fun to know so many artists are working on the same things the entire month, using Leslie's excellent ideas to promote our art.
Our assignment today is to choose our favorite painting that has not yet sold and post it on Facebook and on our blog. Here he is, the cutest little Dutch Bunny you've ever seen. I also decided to offer this one at a special price, which for today is 25% off the regular price. That was my own idea.
How can you resist those eyes?

Thanks for viewing!

Empty Bowl

The Outsiders, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2013, Fay Terry
$100
Little bowls like this are fun to paint and I may do this one again because I learned a lot from doing it.  The bowl is actually closer to red but the light hitting it made it look very orangey and put orange into the shadows, too. I did eat the orange sections when I was finished so I'll have to cut up more.

Happy May Day to you. My mother used to tell me about a May first tradition of taking small goodie baskets and flowers to the house of a neighborhood friend, ringing the doorbell and leaving without getting caught so they would not see who left the basket.

Thanks for viewing my art.
