Summer Colors

Flowers And Apples, 8 x 10" oil on canvas, ©2013, Fay Terry

The colors in this make me happy and the white pitcher reflects the warm colors in the room.
I hope you are having a great week-end!

Quick Study

There was not much time for painting today, but I am happy that I managed to pick up my brushes long enough to get a study done for a larger painting. I have been wanting to paint Lilacs, which don't grow well here so I have some wonderful photos someone let me use. This gave me the chance to at least get a feel for the subject and this will make it easier when I do a larger one.
I hope your holiday has been wonderful, ours was lots of fun.

The Bather

The Foot Bather, 7 x 5 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

SOLD

This is my contribution to the Daily Paintworks Challenge which is to paint from this photo or one of  my  own which shows a bathing scene.  The photo of a model provided by Carol Marine is a wonderful reference photo and has been interpreted many ways by various artists. I would like to do a larger painting from this photo in the future.
I chose to paint the figure in a blue robe instead of the white one in the photo and I made a few other minor changes. It was fun to paint and gave me the chance to do another figure painting which I always love.

Hydrangeas In A Pitcher, 8 x 8 " oil on panel, Fay Terry ©2012

This is the completed painting that I began and posted on Friday morning. I completed it this morning while the flowers still looked fresh. It's good that I did because now at the end of the day they have wilted. The pitcher is one of my favorite pieces of pottery and is one that I often use for flowers.

Strawberry Season

Fay Terry, VIEW FROM ABOVE, 6 x 6 " oil on gessobord panel, ©2012

The days of local strawberries are here, and in spite of the cold snap we are having, I am excited about going out to pick strawberries at some of the nearby strawberry fields very soon.
As you can see, I am working on a new perspective for my still life paintings.  I love painting things looking down into them like this.  I bought this little pitcher in Charlotte over the week-end along with some other sale items that will be great for painting and kitchen usage.
