Two From Maine

Several years ago, I read a fascinating book by Trevor Corson, The Secret Life Of Lobsters, how fishermen and scientists are unraveling the mysteries of our favorite crustacean.  I have loved Maine and everything about it since I spent summers there as a child.
When I am there, I try to eat lobster at every meal, beginning with a lobster omelet for breakfast.
It is my favorite food, and although my mother and grandmother made every known lobster recipe, from Thermidor to  Newburg, to lobster bisque and lobster salad,  I prefer steamed lobster with just a little lemon.
I have painted quite a few of these beauties and it always makes me happy seeing their beautiful color and form.

  1. I never could get into lobster. Of course, I'm not much of a seafood eater to begin with. And lobsters always look like monsters from the deep, but you captured them well. I don't know why, but I've always loved the part of the movie, Julie & Julia, where she has to cook lobsters. ;)

    1. Hi Dave, you are one of the early posters like me and our paintings always land in close proximity. I enjoy seeing your work. Thanks for commenting. I love Julia and I can't believe I still have not seen that movie- gotta do that soon and look for that scene.

I think I need more time to see everyone's blogs more often.

    1. You made my day, Anne. Thanks for your comment. Yes, this is quite an experience and has been a fun intensity after my lack of painting time toward the end of 2012.
I follow a lot of New England bloggers and I think your work may have appeared on one of their blogs, or maybe your name and a link. Anyway, I really like your work.

  4. The shapes of stark red on the cloth makes it very appealing!
Loved the 'J&J' movie too, highly recommended...the passion for cooking/eating shows through, just like this blogpost.
