Dancing Chicken, 6 x 6 " oil on archival panel ©2013, Fay Terry

$100. includes shipping

Chickens are always fun for me to paint and they remain popular with collectors as fun paintings to buy.  This one, and several others, were watching me closely one afternoon in Brantome, France.  I had set up my easel beside their fenced in coop not far from the scene I was painting.  I did not notice them or hear them for quite awhile as I worked. After a while, I turned around to see about six of them lined up beside the fence staring at me.
I hope ya'll are having a great week-end.  We have an icy coating after today's wintry mix of sleet and frozen rain.

Last night my husband and I went to see the exhibition at the Nasher Museum at Duke University in Durham, "Collecting Matisse and Modern Masters:  The Cone sisters of Baltimore".
It is wonderful and amazing that Dr. Claribel and Miss Etta Cone were able to amass one of the world's greatest art collections.  The family fortune was made in NC textiles by their brother, Moses Cone.
Here is one of the many paintings in the show, and one of my favorites, by Matisse.

  1. This chicken has all kinds of spunk, delightfully energetic painting. I love Matisse too, hope to get to the MET to see the exhibit before it leaves. It sounds like an amazing show!(the one you just saw, I mean)

    1. Thanks, Anne! I tried to put the strokes down and leave them alone, not so easy for me.
I'd like to make it to the one at MET, too. I have heard that it is very special. March will be here before we know it so I'd better start planning.
