Sunflowers and Sweet Potato Vine, 16 x 20" oil on linen
I decided to paint large today with a still life set up in my studio. Rain started early; the flowers helped make it sunny while I worked. It is not yet finished, so I will continue to work on it. The tablecloth and the background are darker than they appear in the photo. I tried several adjustments and did not succeed in making it more like the painting.
On another note, I was in Rockland, Maine to visit two of my favorite places, The Farnsworth Museum and Dowling Walsh Gallery. Lucky me, I also saw one of my favorite painters. I had already been upstairs where his most recent paintings were just being installed. Colin's paintings just keep getting better every year and he is incredibly nice.
