Blue Chair, 11 x 14" oil on canvas

donated to "A Stroke Of Patriotism"
available in silent auction July 18th at Railhouse Brewery
On display at Artist League Of The Sandhills until then

I am back from a series of in-state travels and glad to be back home for awhile.

This painting has been donated to help raise funds to meet the needs of local veterans in the Sandhills area of North Carolina. Funds dispersed will address a variety of needs such as handicapped access, housing assistance, school funds and clothing, excessive medical bills, transportation, and more.
The Artist League and Railhouse Brewery are working together on "A Stroke Of Patriotism", an event
which will have many paintings by celebrity artists and some of the area's best known artists.

I hope you will come out from 2-4 pm on July 18th and have fun with us at the brewery in Aberdeen while supporting a great cause. Please come and bid on my paintings.

Tomato Tuesday

No Garlic, No Guac!  6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100 plus shipping
Sold

Guacamole is a favorite at our house when I make it with a nice ripe avocado, chopped tomatoes, fresh lime juice, garlic, and salt and pepper. There's no garlic in this painting because I forgot to include it in my studio set up that I painted this from. It is pretty unlikely that I would not have garlic on hand. I just planted some in the garden which will give us a nice spring crop of garlic. Love these spidery looking leaves around the stems.

Something else I love is hummus and I buy a certain store brand but would love to have a good recipe to make it. Please send it to me if you have one you love.  Thanks!

These blue stripes look much more electric in the photo than they do in person. I think blue is the most difficult to photograph.

On My Easel

More work on this tomorrow. I set up this still life in my studio and will finish it tomorrow. You'll be happy to know that it will not contain pink stripes once it is completed. So far it has been fun and I hope to get an early morning start.
Thanks for looking at my blog.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes On A Yellow Plate, 8 x 8" oil on gessobord, ©2014, Fay Terry

All of a sudden we have lots of tomatoes ripening every day in the garden; they are wonderful but I am going to have to find some creative ways to use them all.  I also have eggplant so maybe I will make my long ago recipe for ratatouille.  I can only eat so many tomato sandwiches!

A Little Obsessed with stripes

Blue Vase, 8 x 8 " oil on gessobord panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

I have been picking lots of flowers and vegetables from the garden; these cute little cherry tomatoes were admiring the Zinnias so I let them be in the painting. It was nice to use larger panel this time after doing a few six inch paintings I wanted to go a little larger.

Please feel free to forward this to someone you think might enjoy it and they can subscribe to my blog if they like. I am trying to expand my subscriber list so any help you give me will be appreciated!

Red

Tomato Time, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

This is a summer favorite, love it when you can just walk out to the garden and pick fresh tomatoes. These are cherry tomatoes and they never seem to stop producing more little babies.
I think this is going to be a week-end for working outdoors. We did some yard work late this afternoon but man, it was still ninety degrees.
I took paintings to the beach today and spent a little time in downtown Wilmington, which thankfully has lots of shaded streets.

Small Harvest

Garden Variety, 8 x 8 " oil on 3/4" cradled panel, ©2012, Fay Terry

painting is ready to hang

These are the vegetables I picked today from our garden. Cherry tomatoes and bell peppers are plentiful. It took awhile for the yellow squash to start producing. ( I'll paint some in my next garden painting.) There have been many blossoms but maybe the bees weren't doing their job and pollinating them. We have several raised beds and have finally streamlined our planting so that we have enough for us and a little to give away to friends.
We began our married life with a ridiculously large garden which took hours of labor. Now we enjoy our small plantings. We did much canning and freezing in those days.
I am looking forward to the eggplant and the big tomatoes that are almost ripe.  Then I can make one of my summer favorites, Ratatouille.

Sandwich Fixin's

Sandwich Fixin's
I can already taste those delicious tomato sandwiches that I'm
going to be making all summer!

It's difficult to think anything but pleasant thoughts while eating a homegrown tomato.
