Snowy

Snow Covered Mountains, 9 x 12" acrylic on Raymar Panel, ©2015

My goals in this painting were to achieve depth and to contrast the shadow pattern with the areas in light.  It was fun painting snow on the high peaks, something I have not painted before.  This is another landscape painted partially in the workshop I recently took with John Poon.
A few days ago I could have painted outdoors here in Pinehurst, but now we are experiencing ice covered ground and roads, and a dusting of snow on top this afternoon. I think there will be some warm days, in the sixties, very soon.
I am happy that we have just seventeen days until daylight savings time begins.

Twelve Of Thirty

View From The Lodge, 6 x 12" oil on panel ©2014, Fay Terry

These trees made quite an impression on me on a recent visit to Sea Island, Georgia. We arrived  just in time for lunch and were seated facing this view. The shadows on the grass and the long expanse of the ocean made me want to paint this scene.
Every evening between six and seven a bagpiper stood in the shade and played the pipes. He gradually moved from one end of the lawn to the other.  It was a beautiful sight and the music was well suited to the early evening atmosphere with nice breezes coming off the water.
I really enjoy painting long rectangular paintings once in awhile; they are a nice change from my usual square daily paintings.

Quick Study

River Bend Rooftop, 6 x 6 " oil on archival panel, ©2012, Fay Terry

I painted this as a study for a larger painting that I am getting ready to do.  I just love the blues and greens in this one as well as the tall trees in front of the red roof.
All of my paintings on this blog will be priced at 25% off the regular price until the end of December.  If there is one from the past that you would like, let me know and I will change the paypal button to the sale price for you.
Thanks for following my art!
