30 Paintings In 30 Days-Day 6

It's Strawberry Season Somewhere, 6 x 6 " oil on gessobord panel, ©2015, Fay Terry

$125.

I love these in this pretty glass dish which was a special gift from dear friends which I couldn't wait to use and paint.
It is so great to have fruit like this in the winter instead of waiting until May in North Carolina for the berries to ripen. While I still prefer locally grown produce, I have been surprised recently at the flavor and quality of some of the imports, particularly blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries. It certainly increases the fresh fruit choices.

Red Berries

Local Strawberries, 6x6" oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

There are still some local strawberries available, but the season here is winding down. The berries grown close by are the best  but it's still nice that fresh strawberries are in the stores almost year round.

Fresh Fruit

Strawberries For Breakfast, 6 x 6 " oil on gessobord

Sold

This is what I had for my breakfast. I made a smoothie that also included some frozen raspberries and blueberries along with some soy milk and a little maca. This is the time of year I switch from oatmeal to  putting interesting combinations in the juicer, usually with some spinach or kale for extra health benefits.
I am getting my supplies together to pack up for Patti Mollica's workshop which starts this week end. I am really looking forward to getting together with two great painting/blogging friends, Deborah Taylor  and Patti Vincent  who will also be there. I met both of them a couple of years ago in Carol Marine's workshop.

Time Passes Quickly

Fay Terry, SHORTCAKE TONIGHT 6 x 6 " oil on gessobord panel, ©2012
Available framed at One Eleven Main, Aberdeen, NC
SOLD

Today is a special day because of a great event in my life twenty-two years ago. Today is my daughter Caitlin's birthday!  She will be graduating from Carolina in a few weeks and it does not seem that long since she was just a little girl. I am very proud of her for all that she has achieved and happy that she's had a great four years in Chapel Hill.  She will always be my sweet baby girl and she has two older brothers, too.  Here is a photo of her with her dog Pixie.

Local Strawberries Ready

Local Strawberries Ready

So long, limes-HELLO strawberries..
The pick your own strawberry farms are now open here.
Bill and I are going very early next week to pick.
The first year we were married, we entered our strawberry jam
in The N.C. State Fair and won a blue ribbon.
We are planning to do that again this year and see if we can win again.
You never know...
