This painting was painted on one of our last days on Monhegan Island, ten miles off the coast of Maine. 

We had some sparkling sunny days, but on this particular morning there was not a speck of sun until I was almost finished with this painting.

There were at least a dozen artists  painting from the hill looking toward the ocean and we were all working on different views below us. It was an amazing place to paint, very quiet and contemplative, but fun talking "after work" to many other artists.
