Twenty Seven Of Thirty

Smooth Sailing, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100 plus shipping

I love watching sailboats and the great variety in the way they appear in the water. This one looks very laid back and dreamy. The afternoon was warm and the best place to be was out on the water in a boat or a kayak.
I had fun playing with the colors on the house while the sun made the roof shimmer and look orange and pink.

Twenty Of Thirty

Queen Anne's Lace, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100 plus shipping

The shadows and the Queen Anne's lace at the foot of the tree are the things that drew me in. This road was almost always full of people walking, but I was able to catch it when no one was in the road, although it would have been fun to paint a figure in the distance.

Two Of Thirty

Cool Breeze, Warm Sun  6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100, free shipping

This is a house on Monhegan Island that I walked by almost every day; on this particular day I peeked
out at the water just in time to see this sunlit sailboat going very fast. The entire week proved to be the best weather I have seen on the island. Maybe it was showing off for the Quadricentennial celebrations that were going on, including spectacular fireworks one night, after which Eric Clapton's yacht blew a loud whistle of appreciation.

This is the first of thirty paintings I will paint this month.  I am taking part in a challenge with hundreds of other artists.  I have done this before and it was an amazing experience.
My theme is Islands In The Sun so I'll be revisiting many of my favorite places while working at my easel. Today's scene is from Monhegan Island.

Afternoon Leisure

Spring's Arrival 3, 6 x 6 " oil on gessobord panel©2014, Fay Terry

$100 and free shipping

It looks as if I have another series going with Forsythia. The best part is that my neighbors next door have a huge beautiful Forsythia shrub between our yard and theirs that hasn't even started blooming yet so I will be able to get more photos soon.
I do think it's strange that theirs gets full sun and ours are somewhat shaded but are blooming like crazy.

The temperature is seventy seven degrees so I am taking the rest of the afternoon off to go have coffee with a friend and sit outside at Java Bean Plantation. I did three paintings today so I earned a break!

Chasing Spring

Sheep In Spring, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100 free shipping

I love seeing farm animals when the first warm weather arrives after winter. They always seem to be as happy as I am to be enjoying the warm sunshine. I keep finding sheep photos that I had taken a long time ago and can't resist painting them.
My friend and fellow blogger Sharon Graves knows a lot about sheep and goats from firsthand experience raising them on the farm she and her husband have in Kentucky. She also grows beautiful flowers and does all kinds of creative things besides painting.  Check out her blog here.  Sharon is doing the 30 paintings in thirty days challenge being hosted this month by Leslie Saeta. She is one of the many bloggers who keep me going with their support.

On The River

Two Seater, 6 x 6 " oil on gessobord panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

This was done from one of the many boat photos that I have taken over the years, mostly in Maine.
Today was busy so I ended up painting very late in the day.  Hope you enjoy this peaceful spot.

Plenty Of Sunshine Headin' This Way

Plenty Of Sunshine

What a difference one day can make.  My friend Teej and I skipped our early morning walk today because it was raining a little still and we figured the trail probably got washed away in places from the driving rains yesterday and last night. Naturally, it was sunny and beautiful a couple of hours later.  For some reason I had way too much energy today and decided to get a head start on Fall house cleaning even though we are not very close to that changeover here in NC yet.  It was great though,  and everything is beginning to sparkle-Bill even noticed when he came home. I have to admit, I do love to clean, especially washing windows. But....I'd rather be painting!
