Shorter Days, Longer Nights

Bright Idea, 6 x 6 " oil on archival panel, ©2012, Fay Terry

We bought a really cool floor lamp from Crate And Barrel over the week-end and my husband put it together and set it up.  We decided that the bulb included with it was much too dim so we decided to try the maximum wattage it will take.
What perfect timing, just after I read this week's Daily Paintworks Challenge from Carol Marine! I had fun painting this giant bulb and tonight we can try it in our new lamp.  Thanks, Carol, for another "bright idea".

The Rose

The Rose    SOLD
I can't believe it but this is the first rose I have painted and it was really
fun to paint it from life, since my house seems to be full of flowers.
Thought you might enjoy this quote from Eleanor.

I once had a rose named after me and I was very flattered. But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalogue: no good in a bed, but fine up against a wall.Eleanor Roosevelt

Piggy Bank

Piggy Bank
This is a painting for this week's Daily Paintworks Challenge.  It felt really nice to work on such a fun challenge titled, "Paint Your Pig".  Well, this is mine and she's a good little saver of coins. I still have my  old bank from my childhood days- it is a heavy little dog made of metal and colorfully painted and can be taken apart into two halves by removing one screw.

Big Red Mug

Sold    Big Red Mug
This is my current favorite mug to reach for first thing in the morning.  I painted it for this week's challenge on Daily Paintworks.  I have gotten behind on doing the challenges so I decided to do the current one first and then work backwards to some that I missed.  This week's challenge was by artist Karla Uphoff.  Thanks, Karla, it was fun doing this one!

Old Car In Florida

Old Car In Florida
This is the very first of the Daily Paintworks Challenges and I finally
got around to doing it today. This one came before I started doing the challenges.
Carol Marine took the photo and
put it up for all of us hardworking painters to take a crack at it.
Thanks, Carol.  It was tough but fun.

Curve Ahead

Curve Ahead
This is a landscape painted from one
of Carol Marine's photos she took in Germany.
I will be sending it to the Daily Paintworks Challenge.
It is so interesting to see the different interpretations of the two landscapes
that are posted for the challenge.
