It's not too early to work on some holiday paintings and my gallery in Southport always has an area of handmade gift items which has become very popular. I will be bringing some small paintings and my 2016 art calendars. The Holiday Boutique will open November 2nd.

Labor Day Apple Trio

These apples look as if they are ready to start jumping into the bowl.  It's a small bowl and will only hold two of them so they'll have to be quick.

This is the first stainless steel bowl I have painted and it was really fun to do.  Now I want to try another one with a different set up.  I love seeing the colors of the fruit and the cloth reflected in the shiny metal of the bowl.

Cherry Time

I finally got around to buying some cherries to paint and I was so excited by how much fun they were to do.  I found a tray and placed a few of them on it and  put them under my painting light.  They had such a shine on them that I was really hoping I could capture in addition to the bright color.  I am really happy with the way this turned out.

I decided to paint some okra just picked from the garden, and then I was offered the use of one of my favorite plates by my son's wife Kim.  I have always loved these colorful shiny plates.  So the okra was kind of overshadowed by the cool design of the plates.
