Summer Retreat

Summer Retreat, 20 x 24 " oil on linen, ©2015, Fay Terry

I had a great time painting this scene because I love this house and its surroundings. It is very old and has an unusual floor plan, not to mention a fabulous view. This painting is going to a show at the beach.

Happy Memorial Day and thanks to all those who have served our country and protected our freedom. This is also the unofficial opening of the summer season. My favorite places to be in the summer nearly always include the ocean. I hope this is the start of a wonderful summer for all of you, wherever you may be.
Thank you for looking at my art.

Recently Sold

Checking The Traps, 16 x 20 " oil on canvas, ©2014, Fay Terry

This is one of my personal favorites, another Maine painting, which sold at One Eleven Main in Aberdeen, NC.  I am very happy that it has found a permanent home. I was told that it would be missed in the store, so I am working on more lobster boat paintings for the summer season. Let me know if you are interested in one. Usually they are this size or larger.

Hot Sun

Afternoon Sun, 16 x 20 " oil on canvas, ©2015, Fay Terry

Bald Head Island is one of my favorite places to be and to paint. There is plenty of variety in the landscape, the houses, and the vegetation.  Summer afternoons are often sweltering, but there are many spots where one can find a cool breeze and a shady retreat from the sun.
I have painted this scene a couple of times just because I love Captain Charlie's House. We are lucky to have lots of blue skies and balmy summer hours ahead. We can then pretend there is no such thing as winter!

King Of The Hill

King Of The Hill, 11 x 14 " oil on canvas

I love all the fresh greens in the landscape this time of year and chickens are so beautiful on a lush carpet of grass.  I am going to frame this one so please let me know if you are interested in it and I will tell you how you can purchase it.
I am getting back to finding time to post some of the paintings I have been working on and some commissions I am doing.
Thank you for your interest in my art.

Paint The Town Saturday #2

All About The Tree, 9 x 12" oil painting on linen panel, © 2015, Fay Terry

This painting is framed in a 3" wide silver wood plein air frame,
available May 29th, 6:00pm at the Cary Arts Center

This handsome office building is on the corner of Chapel Hill Road and N. Academy Street in Cary.  When I saw this building from the other side I considered painting the scene, but when I walked around to this entrance, I knew I had to paint it because of the gorgeous, graceful tree casting shadows on the parking area.
I was fortunate to meet Dr. Stephen Kosterman when he stopped by his Chiropractic office to do some work Saturday morning. He is friendly and dynamic, considered by a Reader's Choice Award to be the best Chiropractor in the town.
I hope you can tell how much fun I had painting this, my second painting of the day at the Cary, NC plein air painting event.

If you live in the area, I hope ya'll will attend the Friday May 29th Silent Auction and Gala which begins at 6pm.

Thanks for your interest in my art and for the nice comments regarding my work.

Paint The Town

Curl Up And Dye, 9 x 12" oil on Raymar panel, ©2015, Fay Terry
I was drawn to this adorable little hair salon on Chapel Hill Road in Cary.

I had a wonderful day at the Cary Plein Air event. It included thirty North Carolina plein air artists who painted from eight a.m. to six p.m. Not only was the weather fantastic but also the town gave us a well organized event which began with having our canvases or panels stamped and ended with the opportunity to submit two paintings into a show that will be seen in twenty host businesses in town.

The paintings will return to the Arts Center and be hung there for the culminating event.
On the evening of May 29th the Paint The Town gala and silent auction will be held at the Cary Arts Center with live music, dancing, food, beer, and wine. You are invited to come and see all the wonderful paintings and join in the fun.

I'll show you the second painting I did on Saturday when I post again. Thanks for your interest in my art!
