Bright Tulips

Just For You, 6 x 6 " oil on gessobord panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

Sold

I must have been thinking about Springtime and Easter when I painted this, but I have all this ribbon in some of my favorite colors so it seemed perfect to put it against a turquoise wall and watch the yellow flowers take center stage. I have it in my studio and can't stop looking at it. I know I love bright colors and here they are!
I sure hope ya'll enjoy this one!

Fowl Weather

Social Networking, 8 x 10 " oil on gallery wrapped canvas

It almost looks as if the two in the back are chatting and the large chicken in front is listening to what they have to say.  These three are in a beautiful setting enjoying a sunny summer day, just as we soon will be doing. I love painting chickens because they can be so brilliantly colored, have such interesting shapes, and have personalities all their own.
Contact me for price information if you're interested in this one! It is ready to hang and doesn't even need a frame since it is a one and a half inch deep gallery wrapped canvas.

At The Garden Center

Made It Through The Winter, 6 x 6 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$25

These pansies have bloomed admirably all winter after being purchased on the sunny October day that I took this photo of them at the Garden Center. I love the shadows made by the flowers on the wood shelves where the flower trays were lined up. This mix of colors is called "Monet Mix" and I gravitate toward these every time. I like to be the one buying the flowers in our family because one year we ended up with pansies all one color--orange, just because my son was in school at UT!
I will miss these when warm weather comes, but then we will have others showing their faces to the sun.

You can bid on this through Daily Paintworks Auction by clicking here.
This auction will last for seven days.

Blue Ribbon Flowers

Remembering, 6 x 6" oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

Sold

These are my Valentine's Day Tulips still going strong, which is amazing. I did put a ribbon around them to keep them from falling over and then I thought I would put a bow on the one at the top. This is my favorite tulip painting that I have done so far and there will be more on the way soon. I love painting tulips! There is something special about spring flowers that makes me feel excited about all the beautiful days ahead.
I hope you are having an excited about spring day, too!

The Bather

The Foot Bather, 7 x 5 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

SOLD

This is my contribution to the Daily Paintworks Challenge which is to paint from this photo or one of  my  own which shows a bathing scene.  The photo of a model provided by Carol Marine is a wonderful reference photo and has been interpreted many ways by various artists. I would like to do a larger painting from this photo in the future.
I chose to paint the figure in a blue robe instead of the white one in the photo and I made a few other minor changes. It was fun to paint and gave me the chance to do another figure painting which I always love.

Glass Bottles

Magical Light, 6 x 6 " oil on archival panel, ©2012, Fay Terry

$20.
special price

These bottles are two of several that I purchased at Michael's recently. I went in the store to get something else and happened to spot these on the way out.
It's pretty cool to see what happens when one bottle is in front of another and the colors overlap.  It reminds me of a Venn diagram, which I have always thought were fun.  I love Math, which surprises me now when I realize how right-brained I am.

I am offering this painting in a Daily Paintworks Auction. Click HERE to view the auction or place a bid.

By the way, the DPW auction site is completely safe and easy and it keeps the painting available a little longer.  This auction lasts seven days a payment is through Paypal with a credit card (preferred) or by check to me.

I am also offering some other paintings at special prices so you should check it out!

Tulips Today

Lamp Study With Tulips, 6 x 6 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100. includes shipping
My objective in this painting was to contrast the warm light on the tulips close to the lamp with the shadowy darks of the other flowers.  I may do a large version of this soon and include a little more of the painting on the wall.
I am working on several large paintings and still enjoying keeping up my daily painting schedule by posting the small ones.

Summertime Treat

Watermelon From The Garden, 6 x 6 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100.

There is nothing better to get you in the mood for gardening than to receive the annual seed catalogs in the mail. Their arrival got me thinking about growing these small round watermelons in our raised bed gardens.  We are already planning and ordering plants and seeds for the 2013 growing season. Fresh tomatoes, okra, watermelon, cucumbers, eggplant, and squash are the usual crops we enjoy. I'd love to hear of anything you'd recommend that you've had good luck with in your garden.

Maltipoo

Pixie, 5 x 7 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

This is one of our dogs and she has a large personality and is filled with determination and spunk.  I have always heard that most small dogs don't realize they are not as big as some other dogs.  Fortunately, Pixie has a "big sister" who is a large standard Poodle. The two are very devoted to each other and keep things from ever getting dull around here.

Food For A Snowy Day

Saturday Night Chili, 6 x 6 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100.

We had a beautiful snowfall Saturday.  You will probably laugh when I say that it was only a couple of inches, but even that is a rare treat where I live.  I put out bowls to collect snow for snow cream and made a big pot of chili for dinner.  Today the sun is melting most of the snow but it was fun while it lasted.

Pink Car

Beetle Stand-Out, 5 x 7 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100. includes shipping
I saw this car parked in Southern Pines one afternoon so naturally I had to get some photos for painting it. Practically everyone has a VW Beetle story to tell and maybe I'll share one sometime but what I found out by doing a little research is this.
The original Volkswagen Beetle was born from within the Third Reich.  Ferdinand Porsche, the founder of Porsche, was commissioned by Adolf Hitler to create a car for the people- Volkswagen translates roughly to "the people's car". According to author Billy F. Price in the book "Adolf Hitler: The Unknown Artist," this drawing of the prototype Volkswagen was made by Hitler at a restaurant in 1932 and passed off to his automotive adviser.
(I found this info on Boston.com in an article by Carli Velocci and think it is an interesting bit of history.

Just Havin' Fun!

Before Practice, Dean Dome 5 x 7 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$75.

Every year there is one open practice for the Carolina Tarheels and we love to attend this December event.  We arrive early for front row seats so we get to watch for awhile before practice even starts. I took lots of photos and decided to try this small painting. The players in the foreground are Dexter Strickland and Reggie Bullock.  I plan to use part of this scene in my next basketball painting and crop the photo differently so the players are larger.  It was certainly fun to paint, especially the court and the baskets. The practice lasts about two and a half hours and Roy runs a tough practice after which he answers questions from the spectators.

So for now, to paraphrase Michael Jordan and all the other player celebrities on the pre-game video, I'll just say, "I'm Fay Terry and I AM a Tarheel!

Yellow Rose

Yellow Floribunda, 6 x 6 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100.

Yellow roses are my favorite and this one begged to be painted.  This is a giant bloom and I love the pale edges of the petals.
Roses are extra special for me because Rose is also our daughter's middle name!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Wide Open Tulips, 5 x 7 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100. includes shipping

I did manage to get one more painting of these tulips before they were over the hill.  This is my favorite one of the four that I painted. All five blooms are fully open and only one of them has fallen over and is leaning forward.  They remain in my studio and will soon be replaced by my beautiful Valentine roses that I received from my husband.

I hope you have a sweet and loving day today.

Playing With Leaves

Indigo, 5 x 7 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100 includes shipping

This beautiful puppy named Indigo is an Australian Shepherd mix.  She is about fifteen months old and has a very loving home.  I especially like her cute ears and the leaf hanging out of her mouth.  She is very smart and is already obedient to commands.
Thank you, Justin, for the photo.

Friendly Face

Paris Smile, 6 x 6 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100. includes shipping
This is Antoine, one of the cooks I met at Cafe Constant in Paris.  He is a young Parisian, has a great sense of humor, and loves his work with master chef Christian Constant.
I love to travel and adore Paris, so I am eager to get back there soon.

I have been painting more figurative paintings and found that I really enjoy doing them. Every painting is an opportunity to learn something new which can then be used in future work. I feel very fortunate to have discovered my passion and to have made so many friends through daily painting!

Old Fashioned Idea

Great Grandfather's Mustache Cup, 6 x 6 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100. includes shipping
I have had my great grandfather's mustache cup for a while and decided to paint it. I love imagining it being used in the early twentieth century when mustaches were full and flowing, often waxed so that keeping them away from a hot beverage was a necessity.  This one is hand-painted and very pretty despite the fact that the bridge across the cup to keep a mustache dry kind of makes it look like a Batman cup. It is an interesting piece of history.

I hope you will leave a comment, no word verification required :) !

The Perfect Pony

Meet Doodlebug!  6 x 6 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

I took some photos of Doodlebug the last time we were at the farm and just got around to doing this painting.  Now I think I may want to do a larger one based on this.
This beautiful pony is my grand daughter's and she is already, at a very young age, very happy in the presence of horses. She enjoys riding doodlebug and will perhaps continue the legacy of love of horses.

Wine Choices

One Sparkler, 6 x 6 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100 includes shipping
Just so you'll know, these bottles were chosen because they had pretty colors on top. I had them in the house already so I am unlike someone I know who makes wine choices at the store based on whether the label is pretty.
This was fun to paint, especially the foil cap on the sparkler, which is from Spain.

Please feel free to forward this to someone you think would enjoy my daily paintings and then they can subscribe themselves by going to my blog and hitting the subscribe button.

Tired Of Beer?

Come Share The Wine, 6 x 6 " oil on panel ©2013, Fay Terry

$100 includes shipping
There are sixty one microbreweries operating in North Carolina, most of them producing some excellent beer. I have always enjoyed beer and lately we have been taking advantage of the large variety available, not just in our state but from all over. I especially like the really dark beers, such as the Mocha Stout from Highland Brewery in Asheville.
It has been fun and interesting to try new tastes, but I am thinking of switching to wine for awhile.  I came across some nice options when I was moving everything out of the kitchen a couple of months ago. Some of the bottles even had interesting tops that made me want to paint them.

I hope you enjoy this painting as we kick off the second week-end in February. Thank you, as always, for subscribing to, or visiting my blog.

Warmer Waters

Tropical Swimmers, 8 x 10 on cradled panel, ready to hang, ©2013, Fay Terry

$175 includes shipping

I love going snorkeling because the fish are always magnificent colors and very playful.  These are some of the colors I remember from a trip last year. These tropical colors are so sunny and relaxing, I feel like I'm on the beach already.
Wouldn't this make a great Valentine gift for someone who loves the ocean? Just let me know and I will gift wrap it for free!

Thank you for following my art blog, it is truly a gift to be able to share these paintings with ya'll everyday.

Sweet Dreams of Spring

The Promise Of Spring, 6 x 6 " oil on archival panel ©2013, Fay Terry

$100. includes shipping

This is my third painting of these tulips that are brightening my studio and making me dream of an early spring. I have this pot in four colors so whenever I buy a plant I can drop the plastic pot it came in straight into a yellow, blue, coral, or lime green pot with a fluted edge. In the summertime, I have all of them on the screen porch with plants in them.  Anyway, things are looking less wintry around here and I, for one, am getting ready to welcome a new season.  Can spring be far behind this winter?
PS I will wrap this one for Valentine's Day free with purchase!

Bright Tulips

View From Above, 8 x 10" oil on cradled panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$175. ready to hang

These tulips are on the table with some new colorful napkins I found at Crate and Barrel. I could not resist including the fabric design in my set-up. It was really fun to paint and so were the flowers. I hope to do at least one more painting of these before they reach their limit of bloom time. I have really loved having them in the studio where I can see them all day.

Collage

Thirty Paintings In Thirty Days!

These are the paintings I completed during the thirty day challenge.  Leslie told us about a great website called Picmonkey where you can do all kinds of cool things with your photos, not just collages.
If you would like to check it out click HERE .  You can doll up your photos and even make Valentines, which is one of the things I plan to do.
I hope you like seeing all these paintings together as much as I do.  Maybe I will do one at the close of every month.
Thank you for following and supporting my art!

February Tulips

Tulips In The Kitchen, 6 x 6 " oil on archival panel, ©2013, Fay Terry

$100. includes shipping

Painting flowers from life is always fun and these bright tulips were just barely opening when I set them up to paint. This is my favorite color for tulips, a nice bright pink. I will paint these several more times from various angles and hope to see how many different ways I can paint them.
It is so cold outside that looking at these helps remind that spring really is on the way!
I hope you are having a fun filled week-end.

Island Time

Houses On The Bluff, 12 x 16 oil on canvas, ©2013, Fay Terry
Donated

This is one of my favorite places where time slows to an easy pace, days are full, views are endless sea and sky.
This painting will be available at the O'Neal School Auction on February 2nd.  It gives me great pleasure to help with this fundraising event.
