Delicious Plums

Plum Dotty 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100 and free shipping

These plums caught my eye early this morning when I went to the market; I was choosing them according to the colors I wanted to paint and their size. I already knew how sweet they are since I tasted one yesterday. These are all red plums even though a couple of them look a little purple.
I tried a polka dot background instead of the stripes I have been focusing on. Fun to paint.
There may be more plum paintings in my future.
I hope you enjoy these!

Golden Blooms

Simply Sunflowers, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100 and free shipping

This has been a busy day, but very good painting time was available to me and I had fun working on several ideas. Just realized I have not painted any sunflowers this year so here is one just for you. Aren't they cheerful and fun?
The birds do love them but these are still standing without being eaten. The birds seem to go after the seeds whether they are fully ready or not.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes On A Yellow Plate, 8 x 8" oil on gessobord, ©2014, Fay Terry

All of a sudden we have lots of tomatoes ripening every day in the garden; they are wonderful but I am going to have to find some creative ways to use them all.  I also have eggplant so maybe I will make my long ago recipe for ratatouille.  I can only eat so many tomato sandwiches!

A Little Obsessed with stripes

Blue Vase, 8 x 8 " oil on gessobord panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

I have been picking lots of flowers and vegetables from the garden; these cute little cherry tomatoes were admiring the Zinnias so I let them be in the painting. It was nice to use larger panel this time after doing a few six inch paintings I wanted to go a little larger.

Please feel free to forward this to someone you think might enjoy it and they can subscribe to my blog if they like. I am trying to expand my subscriber list so any help you give me will be appreciated!

Red

Tomato Time, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

This is a summer favorite, love it when you can just walk out to the garden and pick fresh tomatoes. These are cherry tomatoes and they never seem to stop producing more little babies.
I think this is going to be a week-end for working outdoors. We did some yard work late this afternoon but man, it was still ninety degrees.
I took paintings to the beach today and spent a little time in downtown Wilmington, which thankfully has lots of shaded streets.

Playful work

This is a small study for a possible larger painting I have been thinking of doing. It is always fun to try several small ones first so I'll be drawing lots of sea turtles this week to see how I want to put them together on a big canvas.
Thanks for following my paintings!

Summer Bouquet

Hand Picked, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry
SOLD
Available at Franklin Square Gallery

Today's picks from the garden behaved well while they were posing for me. They did not wiggle or fall over; they stood up straight and tall. I added the plum and I am very pleased with the way this one turned out.
Thanks for looking at my paintings!

Sweet Smelling Rose

Glowing Pink, 12 x 12 " oil on cradled panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

will be available at Franklin Square Gallery, Southport

The shadows on this were fun to paint and so was the rest of it; I love painting roses.
I will be taking some new paintings to the gallery at the beach this week and the new show will be hung next Monday.
There are lots of art related things going on right now and it is hard to keep up with everything when it all comes at once.
Thank you for following my blog. I am happy to be back to my daily painting and posting.

From The Garden

Tiny White Vase, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100 plus shipping

Today was the first day since I arrived home from Maine that I actually worked in the garden.
These flowers were inundated with weeds so I took care of that; naturally I wanted to cut some to bring inside and they insisted on being painted, which was  fine with me. They know they're my favorites.

Peachy

Peaches And Pink Stripes, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

$100 and free shipping

What a great week-end this has been with a trip to the beach and getting home in time to paint these peaches from a set up in my studio.  I finally tried another one of my striped towels, bright pink this time.
Hope you've had a fun week-end!

Monhegan Pink Door

Vaughn House, Monhegan, 9 x 12" oil on linen, ©2014, Fay Terry

This painting is not completely finished; everyone is asking me to post paintings from my trip to paint on Monhegan Island so here is the first one I did.
I have just a few adjustments to make and I was pretty happy with the way this intimate little scene turned out. I would love to be able to stand in front of it again to finish, but a good photo will have to be my resource for the little bit I have left to do.
Happy Saturday!

Fresh Peaches

Pink Plate, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

Available at Franklin Square Gallery

I am still enjoying the peaches, both as still life objects and delicious, dripping with juice, sweet eats.
I have been experimenting with color combinations always with the same striped dishtowel. Lots of fun, and gorgeous weather here these days with low humidity and pleasant temperatures: this is not what we are accustomed to in August.
I hope your week-end is full of delight.

Peach Plate

Peaches On Vietri Plate, 6 x 6 " oil on canvas

Available at Franklin Square Gallery

What could be better than a still life with something sweet, juicy, and delicious that can double as a snack after the painting is completed ? I love the way all these blues work together to let the fruit make a dramatic statement. Hope you can tell I had fun with this.
My family has been asking for a peach crisp which is a favorite dessert at our house. Perhaps that will be soon but not tonight, I'll save it for a week-end treat.

August Daisies

Welcome Home Flowers, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

Special Price $75. and free shipping

It is so great to be home with my family and my dogs.  I am gradually getting rested after the long drive home; it seemed much shorter on the way up to Maine.  I am going for coffee with a friend in just a few minutes so I just want to say that I am pricing this 25% off in celebration of summer. There is much to appreciate right now with gardens full of vegetables and flowers, long evenings, sunsets, and sudden rainshowers. This is my favorite season!

Peaches

Three Sweet Peaches, 6 x 6 " oil on panel, ©2014, Fay Terry

Donated to Fundraiser at Wiscasset Library, Wiscasset Maine

I am back home enjoying a studio day; it was too wet most of the day to paint outdoors. On my way home yesterday I just had to stop at nearby Kalawi Farms and get some peaches. These are the  Monroe variety and are juicy and delicious.
The trip to Maine could not have been better.  I made some wonderful friends, swam in the icy clear water on Monhegan, and took part in the Quadricentennial festivities.  The painting time was fantastic during the bright sunny days. Prior to that I painted at my friend's gorgeous flower farm as well as in Yarmouth.

Kids And Kayaks

I was painting on Monhegan Island today
and this was the view below us. There were children playing in the water, rowing their kayaks while their happy noise drifted up the embankment.
It made for a great plein air atmosphere
In which to work.
